Expert technology tax and IP consulting
The founders of MMP have worked together for more than 14 years in technology tax practice
Together, the MMP founders have managed countless hundreds of client claims through to approval by HMRC, with claim values ranging from many millions of pounds to tens of thousands of pounds.
David Marshall is a highly experienced business professional, with a work history across many different industry sectors working at C-suite and board-level positions, managing trade sale exits and M&A work. He has spent the last 17 years working exclusively in the tax incentives field, combining his technology skills and tax experience helping clients make robust and successful claims.
David holds numerous qualifications in business, finance, and engineering:
- MBA from Leicester University, majoring in Corporate Finance,
- Degree from Leicester University in Management, majoring in Finance,
- Degree in Communications Electronics from Middlesex University.
In 1996, he co-founded UK software startup Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) . In four years, it became a global success story, achieving £22M in revenues, employing over 100 staff and signing more than 2,000 channel partners. GMT was independently rated as the fastest-growing software company in the USA, and caught the attention of global technology group Sempres Holdings. David helped manage the trade sale exit of the company to Sempres in 2000. After being appointed to the board, he assisted it to an IPO.
David was appointed Interim Vice President at Kewill Systems (London Stock Exchange), Head of European Business Development at a subsidiary of Modine (New York Stock Exchange), European Programme Direction for a division of TYCO International, and UK Sales Director at Red-M (backed by Apax Partners).
Prior to founding MMP, David was a board Director of an R&D tax boutique. After that he joined Alexis in managing the UK division of an international tax consultancy, building a strong rapport and working dynamic that eventually led to them setting up together independently. In his (admittedly rare) spare time, David loves sailing, riding his Harley Davidson, and going to dodgy 70's rock gigs with his grown-up children.
Alexis Marz is one of the country's most experienced tax incentive consultants, having managed thousands of claims over more than 15 years in the field. She leads a team of engineers and finance experts, who have helped some of the UK's largest companies, realising hundreds of millions of pounds in tax relief.
Alexis holds numerous qualifications in business, finance, and engineering:
- MSc in Engineering, ENSTA Paris (formerly the École National Supérieure de Techniques Avancées)
- BSc in Chemical Engineering, University of Michigan
- MBA, London Business School
- Investment Management Certificate, Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts
Before founding MMP Tax, Alexis worked as an engineer for General Electric in the United States. Prior to that, she acted as a researcher for a biotechnology start-up in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and at the Kresge Hearing Research Institute (a department of the University of Michigan Medical School).
Alexis lives just outside London. She is an avid runner in her spare time, and is also working towards a black belt in Taekwondo (slowly but surely! ).
