Modern Slavery Statement

Introduction

This statement is made pursuant to s.54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps that MMP Tax Limited (MMP Tax or the Company) has taken and is continuing to take to ensure that modern slavery or human trafficking is not taking place within our business or supply chain

Modern slavery encompasses slavery, servitude, human trafficking and forced labour.

MMP Tax Limited has a zero-tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity and transparency in all business dealings and to putting effective systems and controls in place to safeguard against any form of modern slavery taking place within the business or our supply chain.

Our business

MMP Tax Ltd is based in London and provides specialist corporate tax consultancy. We focus on IP planning, "technology" tax incentives such as the Patent Box, Research and Development and Creative Sector Tax Reliefs such as Video Games Tax Relief and Animation Tax Relief that help all innovative businesses, whether multinationals or start-ups.

Our employees

MMP Tax Limited only employs people who are legally authorised to work in the UK, and ensures that all employees’ eligibility to work status is validated through appropriate documentation and using methods set out in legislation.

Violation of any of these policies by any employee could result in disciplinary action and potentially dismissal.

Our high-risk areas

There are no activities within MMP Tax Limited that are considered to be at high risk of slavery or human trafficking. Through MMP’s Supplier Policy, the Company seeks to ensure that all suppliers report on their compliance to the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Actions will be taken in the event of a breach of these guidelines.

Our policies

This policy sets out the organisation’s stance on modern slavery and explains how employees can identify any instances of this and where they can go for help.

We operate a number of internal policies to ensure that we are conducting business in an ethical and transparent manner. The Human Resources Team in general is responsible for ensuring that all company policies are fully compliant with UK employment legislation and that all policies are reviewed at least every two years.

Our suppliers

Whilst MMP Tax Limited does not conduct detailed checks to evaluate all supplier compliance with the Company’s standards against trafficking and slavery throughout the entirety of their own supply chain, any suppliers considered to be high risk are required to certify compliance with our Supplier Guidelines & Requirements, which includes a requirement to ensure that their own chains are compliant and the results of that certification are audited.

Contracts will be terminated as soon as possible in the event of a breach of the Guidelines.

In addition to the above, for any high-risk suppliers, we require that they confirm to us that:

  • They have taken steps to eradicate modern slavery within their business
  • They hold their own suppliers to account over modern slavery
  • (For UK based suppliers) They pay their employees at least the national minimum wage / national living wage (as appropriate)
  • We may terminate the contract at any time should any instances of modern slavery come to light

Training

To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business, we provide training to our staff. Awareness training is for board members, directors and any other staff in relevant and appropriate roles. This comes in the form of this policy and supported information. To implement this policy, all employees are provided a copy of the policy statement and are required to sign a declaration that they have read and understood the policy. It is the responsibility of the HR department to ensure that all employees gain an acceptable level of awareness of modern slavery and human trafficking.

Due diligence & key performance indicators

We will know the effectiveness of the steps that we are taking to ensure that slavery and/or human trafficking is not taking place within our business if

  • No reports are received from employees, the public, or law enforcement agencies to indicate that modern slavery practices have been identified.
  • Risk Assessments will be conducted by the Board with support as required from the Human Resources department.
  • Directors will take the responsibility to investigate any concerns raised; they will also be supported by the Human Resources department, as required.
  • This Modern Slavery Statement is approved and authorised by the Board of Directors and is signed by a statutory Director.
